Malawi’s representative in the 2023 CAF Women Champions League/COSAFA qualifier, Ntopwa FC, have been drawn in Group A of the competition which starts later this month in South Africa.
Ntopwa, who will be playing in their maiden international women’s tournament, will begin the COSAFA challenge against Lesotho Defence Force, from Lesotho.
Isaac Jomo Osman, owner of the club, said he expected a tough draw and is happy with the teams his club will face in the group stages.
He said they will not only be participating in the tournament for the sake of it but compete for the glory.
“We are ready as this has been our wish to participate in a tournament like this one”, said Osman.

He adds the preparation for the tournament has been progressing well despite some challenges such that they have reached out to several well-wishers to assist them with financial resources as they carry the nation’s flag.
“We ask Malawians, even the state president to assist Ntopwa with resources so that we can competently compete at the tournament” pleaded Osman.
“It is no longer Ntopwa that will play at the tournament, but the whole country, “added Osman.
Ntopwa qualified for the tournament after clinching the championship title of the 2022 FAM Women League.
The other teams in Group A which Ntopwa will face are defending champions Green Buffaloes from Zambia as well as Botswana’s Double Action ladies.
